Women in City Government

The current administration has appointed a record number of women as senior officials—53%. Since the mid-1850s women in City government have led successful efforts for progress and change on many social, political, and economic issues. The women here are among many workers—pioneers, leaders, public speakers, educators, scientists, activists—who are a part of New York City history.
